Belfast Community Sports Development Network (BCSDN) was set up as a Company with Charitable Status in October 2006. The Company currently has 8 Directors representing Community Regeneration Organisations and Community Managed Multi Sports Facilities, and they work primarily within areas of social and economic deprivation across the City.
BCSDN draws on the professional skills of paid and voluntary people working in the field of community sports. This Network enables community sports in Belfast to articulate and endorse astrategic approach to the development of sport and community regeneration. It provides management, support, mentoring and guidance to Development Officers, Clubs and Community Organisations enabling Belfast wide programmes to be implemented, while complimenting local delivery.
Objective 1
To educate the general public as to the benefits, including health, personal development, education and social inclusion, of the availability of community sports opportunities.
Objective 2
To promote, support and develop the work of voluntary sector community sports organisations for all or any purpose deemed to be charitable and in particular the advancement of education, social inclusion and the improvement of health.
Objective 3
To act as a forum for the exchange of information between organisations to facilitate the development of a strategic approach to community sports development in the area of benefit and presenting the views of providers and beneficiaries to policymakers and funders.
Objective 4
To deliver and assist in the delivery of education, training and development to sports coaches and leaders, committee members, volunteers and administrators.
Objective 5
To promote the development of sporting events, competitions and activities.
