Blog: Inside the Peace

If you want to know the "inside" story of the Northern Ireland peace process, then get down to the Oh Yeah Centre in Gordon Street next Thursday 10th May at 7.30 pm.
The David Ervine Foundation Annual Event as part of the Cathedral Quarter Arts Festival will host Tom Moran, one of the key American players in the peace process back in the 1990's.
Moran is Chairman, President and CEO of Mutual of America, so it doesn't get much bigger then that business-wise; especially for someone who started his career as a taxi driver – an amazing story in itself.
But even more interesting is the fact that he was one of five Americans who played a critical behind-the-scenes role in the Northern Ireland peace process.
The David Ervine event will be a one-off chance to hear the inside story of what went on to enable us to arrive at where we are at now.
Tom Moran will also share his memories of David Ervine and the role played by loyalists in the peace process.
The evening will also have the David Ervine Awards presented to community groups by David's wife Jeanette and entertainment will be provided by singer-songwriter Morgan MacIntyre.
Tickets, which are free, can be obtained at the Belfast Welcome Centre, Donegall Place (beside Boots) or online at www.cqaf.com or telephone 02890 246609.
