Blog: Titanic Fever
Written by Jackie Redpath Thursday, 29 March 2012 09:22

Titanic fever has broken out and it should do Belfast no harm at all. Two weeks ago the cover of the U.K.'s Independent Newspaper Travel Supplement headlined the new Titanic Visitor Centre as potentially doing for Belfast what the Guggenheim Museum did for run down Bilbao, as did the Guardian Newspaper last Saturday.
But it doesn't get any bigger than the American Time magazine, which in anticipation of the opening of the Titanic Signature Building on 31 March, has this week given "Eight Reasons to Visit Belfast", one of which incidentally is the murals on the Falls and Shankill.
One hundred years ago next week the largest moving man-made object on earth eased itself into Belfast Lough and set off for Southampton on its way to New York.
You can be part of that history when you visit Belfast's Titanic Signature Building. Find details at titanicbelfast.com
