Betty Carlisle, MBE

Greater Shankill Partnership Board Member, Betty Carlisle, was presented with an MBE from Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, on the 27th January 2010; for her work with women in Northern Ireland.
Betty was recognised in the Queen's New Years Honors List, for over twenty years service as a community worker to the Greater Shankill Community. As well as a member of the GSP Board, Betty is the Manager of the Shankill Women's Centre.
Betty was brought up in Braken Street in Woodvale & attended Glenwood Primary School and Glencairn Girls Shcool.
Like many girls she went straignt from school to work in Gallaghers Tobacco Factory, later to take up Further Education & then moved on to "social care" type work, ending up as Manager of Shankill Women's Centre 12 years ago.
